WHAT IS COACHING?
According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), coaching is defined "...as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential."  ICF Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative, resourceful and whole.

COACHING VS. THERAPY
Coaching focuses on the "What now?  What's next?" by starting in the present and moving forward, developing the person to engage life with new behaviors and ultimately to achieve his or her definitions of success.  In Coaching, the emphasis is on the present and future.  It is solution oriented.
Therapy focuses on the "Why? From Where?" by starting in the past to help a person heal from past issues.  Therapy focuses on accompanying feelings and emotions, patterns or behavior and any self-destructive tendencies.  In Therapy, the emphasis is on the past and present.  It is problem oriented.

HOW COACHING WORKS

We are all works in progress. Whether it's time for a tune-up or a major overhaul, you have found this site for a reason.   If you are reading this, you are taking action to learn more about coaching.  That in itself is a HUGE step forward!  Below is a general overview of how the coaching process works at Mixed Media Life: 

  • Start here.  Fill out the contact form and request an intro life coaching session     

  • Coaching Welcome Package (Coaching Agreement, Data Form and Questionnaire) 

  • Scheduled Life coaching sessions* virtual by telephone or in person (for local clients)

  • Helpful life coaching tools (Affirmations, Assessments, Mantras are some examples)   

  • Awareness, personal discovery, growth and change

*Number of coaching sessions vary depending on coaching agreement.

LIFE COACHING TOOLS:
As a Life Coach, I use my life experience and coaching skills when working with a client.  I also incorporate a variety of "coaching tools" including beneficial programs, assessments and other helpful documentation that are often very enlightening to my clients.  Here are a few:
Mixed Media Art gives coaching clients a way to connect within and express it on the outside creatively.  This can be done during or in between coaching calls or if done in person, art supplies are provided to the individual or group.
The Wheel of Life Balance is one of my favorite coaching tools to use during the life coaching  journey.  This assessment measures your level of satisfaction in all areas of your life, which will give you a realistic overview to work on with your life coach.
The Clean Sweep Program is a perfect way to start on your new journey through your coaching experience.  The Clean Sweep Program is a checklist of 100 items, grouped in 4 areas of life with 25 in each group: Physical Environment, Well-being, Money and Relationships, which are the cornerstone for a strong and healthy life.
